Under the auspices of Dr. Amin Mahmoud, Governor of Taiz governorate. Judge Khalid al-Burkani, Director of the Office of Endowments and Guidance in the Taiz, launched the second workshop on “The role of society in combating gender-based violence”, which is carried out by EDO in partnership with Yemeni Women Union and with the support of the United Nations Population Fund as part of the project against gender-based violence.
Judge Khaled Al-Burkani thanked EDO for organizing such events and workshops against violence and supporting for the paths of security and social peace, noting the need to coordinate with all relevant authorities in the implementation of these projects, which need to exchange experiences and partnership.
The Executive Director of EDO recommends that the organization continues to carry out the activities of the project “Against Gender-Based Violence” where the second workshop on “The role of society in combating gender-based violence” is being organized today .He added that the workshop targeted a number of preachers, the mayors of neighborhoods and influential figures in society of both sexes, with the aim of activating their role in educating society and motivating it in combating gender-based violence and correcting the terms included in society towards gender and instilling the values of Islam and general principles in honoring women and giving them their rights under Islamic law and Yemeni law .The third workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, targeting social workers and teachers in a number of schools in the province, the director said.
It is worth mentioning that the workshop was carried out by the management of T/ Moaz Al-Sufi and participated in 25 participants and witnessed fruitful discussions and distinguished interaction by the participants and concluded a matrix of recommendations and proposals
